Hemel Hempstead 1 Windsor & Eton FC 4

@ Vaxhaull Road

This day did not start well. I started off by picking up my dad half an hour late.

On the way we listened to Audioslave, which is 3 members of Rage Against the Machine and the Lead Singer of Soundgarden (Chris Cornell). We both decided they sounded very 70‘s a bit Led Zepplin-ish. Dad also said his was quite a good vocalist which I was quite shocked about as he doesn’t say many good things about my music. We also talked about grounds you do and don’t like going to even if the ground is not that good. After getting through the raaabish M25 traffic and going round some roundabouts twice we eventually got to the ground 15 minutes before the game.

The clubhouse has a Pool table & Fruit machines. Hidden away is a huge function room that could hold many events. Beers on tap were Worthington’s Creamflow, Boddington’s, Carling Extra Cold, Grolsch and Stella. Outdside is a good seating area to have a drink in the sun, which we did.

The ground was plastered in red paint and had a sloping pitch. It has cover round 3 sides of the ground. The Tea bar was very good. Burger and Chips was £3.20 and they had Chilli sauce, which always goes down well in my book. I had one complaint about the ground and that was that bins must be an endangered species here.

The starting line up was: Martini, Tilbury, Cook, Kearsey, Skinner, Paul Holsgrove, Gomis, Adams, Scott & Peter Holsgrove.

In the first half we looked very good and were commanding the game but Hemel scored the first goal after 11 minutes. After 20 minutes Parson’s came on for Cox. Good first half performance by Paul Holsgrove.

In the second half we just seem to get stronger and stronger even though the heat was getting hotter and hotter. In the 50th minute Peter Holsgrove equalised and in the 63rd minute he got another. Ten minutes later Cook scored a goal which bounced over the keepers head and he blasted in from 2 yards. A new player Fabien came on for Adams before Cook got on the ball again rounded two players and curled it into the inside of the post for number 4. Walsh came on 12 minutes from the end for Gomis. As the game went on Hemel looked tired and could not find a way past us. Final score was 1-4 to Windsor.

On the way home we listened to some Black Sabbath and got home in half the time it took us to get to Hemel. Home in time for Bar B Q and Beer. Ummm Beer.

Windsor V PHC FC

I really have to mention today. It was absolutely amazing for me. We won 4-0. Goal by Cook (freekick), A Chuck Penalty (Yes really! It was a good penalty too) and two by Tony Reid. I caught a great ball that was kicked off the pitch and the Barmy Army applauded me. If you want to ask them to go through it in great detail (like my Horsham penalty) I am sure they will oblige <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I also got given a PHC FC shirt from their coach (I asked him not really expecting to get one) and Cindy got Shaun Goater to come into the bar to have a chat with us and he was a really great laugh. Many of us got to shake his hand, Great bloke although he was trying to blag us to go and watch Reading Man City on Monday!!!
