Arsenal midfielder Jermaine Pennant pleaded guilty today to drink driving and driving while disqualified.

Pennant, 22, who also admitted driving while uninsured, was arrested in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, at around 6am on January 23 after his blue Mercedes Benz SL500 was spotted in a car park dragging a lamp post beneath it.

The former England Under-21 star, who is set to join Birmingham on loan for the rest of the season subject to personal circumstances, was banned from driving for 16 months last February after being seen travelling in the wrong lane in Paddington, west London.

He appeared at Aylesbury Magistrates' Court today dressed in a black suit, shirt and tie. The court heard his alcohol reading had been 85mg per 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 35mg.

They don't actually make any noise. Mercs.

Jerome probably thought that the engine was sounding a little rough. Having said that, it depends what he's used to, I suppose.

[Oh, by the way. Rumours that it was Ashley's car heve been strenuously denied by t'lad. Ashley.]
