BLUE SQUARE OFFER BACKFIRES AGAIN!

Blue Square were hit to the tune of £287,000 after their 'Get Shirty' offer backfired for the second time in four days.

 

The online firm had first run the offer on Saturday's South Coast derby between Southampton and Portsmouth, promising punters who had a £5 wager on the game to pay them the value of the shirt number of any player shown the red card.

 

On that occasion they were forced to stump up £85,000 when No.21 Diomansy Kamara received his marching orders in the second half.

 

Undaunted, Blue Square repeated the offer for Tuesday night's showdown between Arsenal and Manchester United. And, to their dismay, Mikael Silvestre, the proud owner of the United No.27 shirt, was also shown the red card.

 

This time they had to cough up over a quarter-of-a-million, with PR man Ed Pownall revealing the final damage to be a hefty £287,000.

 

"To say the trading department and the marketing department aren't speaking would be a Jurassic understatement," said Pownall.
