Reds future now in our own hands - Law

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law says his team’s fortunes now lie in their own hands after they climbed out of the Vanarama Conference relegation places last weekend for the first time in five months after a first ever win at AFC Telford United.

Law’s side now have eleven games left, seven of which are at home and they have five out of six fixtures in March on home soil beginning with a tough-looking test against Kidderminster Harriers at the Impact Arena this Saturday.

The Reds boss said: “At the end of the day it is now all down to us. We have got ourselves out of the bottom four and got ourselves into a position where we are now in control of our fate.

“We know the magnitude of the challenge. It has not been easy, it has been up and down of late, but we know on our day we can match anybody. It is now a case of seeing if we can have enough of those days.

“We have got to stop conceding poor goals, not just the back five, but as a group. If we do that, we have every chance of staying up.

“We have not played Dartford yet but we have taken six points out of (relegation rivals) Southport, Telford and Nuneaton.

“There is a better focus about the place and hopefully we can carry that into Saturday and be able to stand up to what is undoubtedly another tough test.”

Manager Law has the rarity of a full strength squad available for this Saturday’s home game against Kidderminster Harriers.

He has a trio of returning defenders boosting his options with Niall Heaton available again after a one-match suspension,

Callum Howe - who trained on Tuesday evening – is fit again after a minor injury and club captain Duane Courtney returned to the bench at Telford last weekend after months out with a torn hamstring.

“We have plenty of strength. Whether we change it or stick with it we will decide before the weekend” added Law.

“It is a tough game. Kidderminster are always a good side, they have got good players.

“Yes it’s at home, but we have done equally as well away from home in recent weeks, and we are going to need to be on top of our game to get anything out of it.”
