Riley returns as Bash boss

Steve Riley, who was sacked as Manager of AFC Totton in March, has returned to one of his former clubs, Bashley, as their new boss.

Riley spent seven years with Bashley before joining Totton in the summer of 2012 and has returned to a club where a new Board of Directors are hoping to turn around fortunes at Bashley Road.

Riley replaces former Lymington Town man David Stride who had only been in charge for six weeks but lost his job on the back of a poor run of pre-season results and a lack of player signings.

Riley had decided to have a break from football after leaving Totton by mutual consent but the prospect of re-joining Bashley was too great and he is up for the challenge of getting the Foresters back on their feet again after the struggles of 2014/15 which saw them finish bottom of the table with just eight points.

They only survived relegation to the Sydenhams Football League (Wessex) due to neighbours Sholing and then Clevedon Town dropping out of the league. Riley will be looking to bring back the glory days of 2006/07 when he led Bash to promotion to the Premier Division.
