FF News
Torquay United need extra options up front, according to boss Paul Cox The club has already brought in Waide Fairhurst and Tyrone Marsh, while Ashley Yeoman signed a new six-month contract earlier this month. "A blind man can tell where our deficiencies lie and we're going to try and put that right this week. "We want to score goals, and to do that, there needs to be a little bit more competition for places up there," 43-year-old Cox told BBC Sport. The Gulls are preparing for their second season outside the Football League with a vastly-reduced budget after the club was taken over earlier this summer. But Cox hopes there is scope to allow him to bring in additional firepower. "We need a cutting edge now in the last third," added Cox, who took over from Chris Hargreaves last month. "I think we need strengthening up top, which will allow one or two individuals to blossom and progress at a much better rate than we're asking them to at the minute. "The one thing we've got is a hell of a lot of young players that are realistically still learning their trade. "What I'm happy with is they've taken on board what we've told them. The shape, the organisation, the structure of the side and the desire to improve is there." Source: www.bbc.co.uk Source
