Hastings 5 Billericay 2

Cannot believe this game!! I dont know what was worse, canvey or this? We showed nothing today, and even our second goal didnt go over the line!! Our 2 best players were the wingers.

I dont want to hear anymore of this injury excuse, because at the end of the day.. the team we had out was a good side. Their 5 goals we practically gifted to them.

Tactics!! Why, when we was 3-1/4-1 down at that time did we only play with 1 striker up front? Surely you would want to eitherplay 4-3-3 or 4-4-2 with more of a striking force to try and get back into the game?

This was just unbelievable. Speachless like gazza.

My rant is over.

We started off pretty strong coming close yet again but just as in so many games this season close is not good enough.

The positive's were that both Wareham & Ferguson teamed up really well (in fact for me they were the team) and were both joint men of the match for us IMO.

I felt sorry for them because they tried really hard to lift the remainder of the team but it just did not happen.

At the start of the season i was slated for saying that our defense was awful i think i am justified in restating that again.

The goals were gifted to Hastings and the score makes them out to be 80% better than they really were,

Our keeper had a really really bad day at the office.

Just one last thing.. Is there a reason for only selecting small/short players? It seems (other than big Dunc) that all our new players are 5ft nothing.

T'was a long drive home.

See ya on Saturday

It was a long drive home with the passengers of my car saying that the players we have in the squad are not bad players and the side we had out wasn't a bad side but where was the fight? Where was the passing? Where were the goals? Fair enough, it could've been oh so different if we had taken our chances in the first ten minutes but as it was, it wasn't.

I agree with BB, Ferguson and Wareham were the best we had on the pitch (in an effort to grasp some "hope" for this coming Saturday - Flakies disallowed goal for supposed "offside"showed that he was getting sharper - given that he gets the service). In fact I applaud Fergie's shout of encouragement and motivation to the departing 'Ricay supporters at the end of the game...

...We are better than that but as with too many games all ready this season, we have been found wanting.

See you all on Saturday.

we have gone too long with mediocre performances and whilst most supporters try to look on the positive side, results and games like this make it increasingly difficult to look on the bright side, we know we can do better - time's running out - the management need to DO something or DO something about the management

It would have been useful for the managers to take a leaf out of Fergies book and shout some words of encouragement and motivation to the team.

Still thats our [****!!****] up of the season over with, Can we move on now Please.

I told my colleage this morning about our game last night and he smiled and said "now you know what it feels like to support Spurs!" "We're not that bad" I protested!

I've gotta feel sorry for the team and the Management. It can't be a whole lotta fun at the moment - and football should be. The highs and lows are part of the game and what keeps us coming back for more.

I'd like to give the Hastings home support a ton of credit. They've not seen their team win or even draw a home game this season and, before last night, had only one Hastings goal to cheer about. But from start to finish they cheered their team on. They got their rewards for being patient last night. We must be due for ours soon!

Come on team - get that smile back on your faces and lets believe we really can go out and win. We showed it last night in the first 5 minutes. Lets keep it up for 90 next time and get some rewards for our efforts. We're still doing better than Spurs evil!

Thanks for those kind comments Pooch, incredibly that has almost been the level of noise since day one, although it has been hard at times, especially given the only previous goal at the Pilot Field was on the first day!
I agree that you could have made us pay within the first ten minutes, but i think once we scored it seemed a whole weight was lifted off our shoulders and we played much more attacking football. I know that some of the goals were gifts, but Frankie Sawyer is the first HUFC player to score five in a league match since 1966 and it lifted all of our spirits.
Well done to your travelling supporters also. It is one hell of a long journey on a Tuesday night and I remember coming back from yours at the beginning of last season when we lost 6-0, not the nicest feeling in the world!
Good luck to you for the remainder of the season and hope to meet up with you when we come to yours

This result, coming as it did on Battle of Hastings day, must have left our conquerors chuffed.

I expect the post match dressing down for our boys was an 'arrowing experience and left them all of a quiver.

Bayeux means have a grumble, but it's all part of life's rich tapestry.

i couldnt make the game but im glad i didnt. i was told it was shocking from the keeper to the strikers. Apart from fergie and wharem.i think to many players are comfortable at the club and need to be droped for a few games.

Cant even blame injuries for this 1.Should be a good game saturday, lets get back to winning ways.

hoepefully either cole or clearey will be fit saturday.

I would try a 3-5-2 it may work.

Buckfield

clearey cole duncun

wharem dormer heffers(holding) doumas(wing back)

fergie(free role)

bricknall flack

I left hunter out of the team because he has 10min spells and we need 90min players. with the experience of heffer you no he will not move further than 10yards in front of the defence which will benifit dormer and the other midfielders to push on more knowing that heffer is alwyas holding if we do lose the ball up the pitch.
And if they do break through they still gotta get past the pace, strengh of clearey, duncun, cole.
I hope they do listen because for me thats a winning team with a very strong bench.
any one agree? Opinions?

I definately wouldnt go for 3 at the back, if we can concede 5 goals against a team who have only scored 1 at home.. with 4 at the back.. then for me it wouldnt work.

And i think its unfair to single out leon because hes not the only one who has had bad games this season, okay as an experience player he should be better, but hes not the only one.

i didnt mean to single out leon, someone asked why i left him out thats all. I have said that there are a few players to comfortable at the club and need a kick up the a**.

you can have 6 at the back and still concede it isnt always the deffence that is the problem i believe if we have the players in midfield who can break up play and not have so many runners breaking through then we wouldnt be under so much pressure at the back all the time.

We only concede so much because of the midfield isnt strong enough. We have good attacking players and they worry about getting forward because no one is behind like heffers who you no is a ball winner to stop the counter. Thats why with heffers just holding in front of the back 3 (david batty role) and fergison having a free role sitting behind the strikers he will score alot more and we will be alot more stable in midfield and at the back.

also if we was to be winning with a short period time to go we can tighten things up and change it to a 5-3-2 or 4-5-1 with the wing backs dropping back.

Now does this make sense?

I hope the managment read this and use it because we will win alot more games and concede far less and score alot more.
