FA Vase 4th Round :- Long Buckby 3 Epsom and Ewell 2

FA Vase fever in Epsom officially ended today in one of the few games to survive the conditions . Firstly big credit to Long Buckby for getting the game on , their pitch was cleared yesterday and perfectly playable .

We took the lead with a Kyle Hough penalty after 9 minutes . The penalty was fairly soft and we feared the ref was looking to even it up .This happened a few minutes later when a clear foul on keeper Paul Borg wad ignored for their equaliser . This gave them a boost and they were the better side for the rest of the first half

and we were hoping to get in at half time on level terms butr they scored just before the break .

After half time they continued to press us back and went 3-1 up . The introduction of sub Mark Jarman livened us somewhat and we got a 3-2 goal when their keeper fell over on the mud and Robbie Burns tapped home from short range . This lead us to having a bit of pressure at the end as the Northants side looked to hang on which they managed.

A key factor was having 3 of our main midfielders missing for the match for various reasons but the main thought is well done our lads for for a good exciting run this year the wins at Moneyfields and Wellington were superb and we gave a good side a few worrying moments today. Lets just hope the weather lets us resume our league and Surrey Senior Cup fixtures soon .
