AFC Sudbury have announced the return to the club of former player Danny Bloomfield.

Signed predominately to play in our U21 team, and adding on field experience and knowledge to aid the development of our youngsters, the signing of this popular striker is a major coup.

This is a another major boost in a week that AFC Sudbury has further enhanced it's reputation as a club that is at the fore-front of youth development regionally. Taking his place in the dugout at our recent Semi-Final victory over Haverhill Borough 'Blooms' could not have failed to be impressed with the determination of his new team mates and willingness to progress.

Director of Football and Youth Development Danny Laws hailed the acquisition as another piece in the jigsaw and long term future of the club.

Laws said, 'It is no secret that a big factor in the vast progress that Kyran Clements and Stefano Mallardo have made this season is due to having Louis Johnson playing in goal behind them, we strategically recruited Louis for this reason '

'The impact Danny Bloomfield will have on our young forwards and midfield players will be the same, this is something we have been conscious of for a while and when Danny left his role at Felixstowe we were eager for him to join us'

'We feel part of the process of developing young players is to play alongside the right kind of experienced players, in Danny and Louis we have without doubt that right kind of experience

'The emergence of U21 teams within a club structure has seen the stereotypical reserve player diminished and we think this is to the detriment of the youngsters football education here at AFC Sudbury we are always looking to strive ahead and maybe buck the trend a little to give the young players the best opportunity to reach their potential'

'To be able to play alongside a striker who has played professionally and at the very highest level of non-league is a wonderful opportunity for all the players in our youth development programme, this coupled with Danny's manner, communication and infectious personality this is a great opportunity for them'.

Danny will go straight into the U21 squad to host Cornard United in the local derby this Saturday at The Wardale Williams Stadium.
