Rugby Borough will have one eye on River Road this evening won't they, hoping that Real Bedford slip up at unpredictable Eaton Socon. See the match programme from Elmfields Gate:

The League meeting at Brunting Road in November resulted in a 1-1 stalemate, this could be another tight affair that could go either way:

Premier Division
Colney Heath 0 St Panteleimon 2

A groundhopper from another Forum was at this one:

SSML - Premier Division
Colney Heath v St Panteleimon 0-2 (ht 0-1)
Venue: Recreation Ground (ko. 1945hrs)
Entry: £10/5, free on-line programme
Attendance: 59
Fourth placed St Panteleimon scored after two minutes and it looked like it could a tough night for the hosts, but in the end the second goal only arrived on 92 minutes. I last saw Heath at the start of November when George Georgiou had just taken over as manager with the team in penultimate position in the division. Since then he has brought in many new players and things briefly looked brighter with a few wins that took them to the heady heights of 18th. But since then they have slipped back to 19th and tonight's performance didn't promise alot of improvement.
The visitors started well with a number of shots blocked before Heath's defence switched off at a corner and St Panteleimon's number 6 had plenty of time in the box to shape and shot. Heath certainly put a lot of effort into the game but the visitors had the edge and created the majority of chances. The second half was more huff and puff with few chances and the hosts never really looked like equalising. The last minute penalty for St Panteleimon was hardly necessary as the new look Heath continue to struggle to pick up points.

SSML Division One Cup Semi Final
Holmer Green 1 Ampthill Town 0

It's a funny old game as Greavsie used to say, a groundhopper from another Forum was present:

Spartan South Midlands League Division One Cup Semi Final
Holmer Green 1-0 Ampthill Town
Admission - £6, Attendance - 56
Venue: Watchet Lane (Holmer Green Sports Association) - This was my first visit to Holmer Green and leaves just Letchworth Garden City Eagles and Lutterworth Athletic to complete this Division for me. Holmer Green is a decent sized village just North East of Wycombe. The ground is on the Northern side of the village and is visible immediately. There is a decent enough sized car park which is used by spectators and also users of the sports hall on site. The goallines are surrounded by trees with the players making the long walk from the changing room and emerging behind one goal through the trees. On this same side is a covered standing area. There is a wooden shed style benched covered stand on the half way line but thats it for spectator facilities. The opposite touchline isn't pathed however some people were using it tonight.
Game: A really enjoyable game of football tonight with chances galore. Holmer Green looked much improved from when I saw them against London Tigers a couple of weeks ago. The game was started quickly with Ampthill trying to lob Holmer keeper Josh Ameganvi and the bounce nearly evading him before Holmer had a well worked corner which led to a curled effort from the outside of the area pinging off the inside of the post. Holmer did take the lead in the first half through a rebounded effort. Ampthill pinged the crossbar early on in the second half before being one on one and Ameganvi making a good save to keep the home side in the lead. Both sides had chances from corners cleared off the line and long range efforts/mis hit crosses saved by both keepers. Deserved win by the home side however it was pretty equal but the endevour to hang on with the amount of goals they have leaked this season deserved to be rewarded and through to the Final they go.

Premier Division

The line ups at Chalk Lane last night, a groundhopper was in attendance:

Tuesday 31st January 2023
Cockfosters 1 Aylesbury Vale Dynamos 1
Spartan South Midlands League Premier Division
Admission: £8, Programme: £2, Attendance: 89
Both these lower mid table sides settled for a point apiece, but George Sippetts had the chance to win it for the home side in injury time, but he scuffed his penalty attempt.
The first half was largely all Cockfosters with more attempts at goal, but had just the one to show during the first 45 mins with the goal coming from the boot of Sippetts on the half hour after a good long throw from Jay Lovell found Chris Griffin who in turn found Sippetts at the far post who poked the ball into the net with keeper Charlie Jones in no man's land.
Cockfoster's created another chance close to half time, but Sippetts headed just wide from a left wing cross from Prince Madu.
The home side continued to dominate in the second half, then out of nothing, Dynamos levelled matters on 68 mins when Dan Lambeth shot past keeper Charlie Mann from distance.
They almost took the lead soon after, but Mann spread himself well to block Abu Khan's shot with his legs.
The home side were reduced to 10 men on 78 mins when Antonio Michael was shown a second yellow card for a cynical tackle.
Then with the clock ticking down on 93 mins, Dynamos defender Terry Griffiths conceded a clear cut penalty, but Sippetts failed with his weak kick going straight into the arms of Jones and a point ensued.
Both sides are back in action on Saturday with Cockfosters hosting Harpenden whilst Dynamos are on the road at Shefford Town & Campton.
