LEAGUE CHAMPIONS

Congratulations to AFC Sudbury on winning the League Championship for the fourth successive season following their 1-0 win at Dereham Town this weekend. The fact that the only goal of the game came in the 93rd minute must have kept everybody at the match on tenterhooks.

The only other time the championship has been won for four successive seasons was in the sixties, when Lowestoft Town Football Club won it in from 1965 to 1968.

On the same day, Leiston clinched promotion to the First Division for the first time in their history. Cambridge City Reserves and Harwich & Parkeston have already been promoted.

Fakenham Town have already been relegated from the Premier Division, with two from four clubs – Stowmarket Town, Dereham Town, Gorleston and Tiptree United – doing their best not to accompany them to the First Division next season.
