I don't know if this is the answer that you want to hear Humpty, but here is something Mal posted on the Slough forum regarding this last week.

"W&E supporters have been asked by the W&E board not to post anything about this snymore as they don't want to cause any upset or make the problem any bigger than it already is."

It was a good result considering we made it hard for oursleves. Adam Mansueto & Tony Reid Scored (With a diving header!!!)

I find the Dr Martens sides to be quite fit and strong so far. Their gives us Ryman teams a run for our money.

What happened last night? Things had been going so well since your first game of the season.

I've left a little summary in response to Fuzz on a different thread. I put it down to a bad day at the office, though two points from four away matches tells the real story. Stag Meadow has become a real fortress for us, having not lost in the league there since the Royals did us on Boxing Day. Four clean sheets at home but haemorraging goals on our travels. Regardless of the result last, I'm chuffed that we're up in the play off places at this early stage in the season, not least because of yet another summer of discontent.

I get the feeling it is going to be a weird sort of a league. Their really don't appear to be too many weak teams, and with Yeading losing at home to Harrow last night it seems unlikely that any one team is going to run away from the others. The new play off system and four relegation spots certainly makes it more interesting as most teams will be playing for something come the spring.

The clapping was just a bit of a giggle. We like the ressie matches because we can watch a Slough match without the importance of a first team match. In the Berks and Bucks match against Bracknell last year we started one of our random claps with 20 minutes to and it just kept going until the end - the one last week was longer still. There is no real point to it, it is just a bit of a laugh seeing the confused faces of other people wondering what the hell we are doing.

Having not spoken to Eddie about it I can't go so far as to say my response will match his ambitions, but at the end of last season he was saying he wanted to get Slough back to the Conference and thought we could have a good season. On the basis of that I'd have thought making the play-off would be considered a good season with getting promotion a very successful season. Personally, with last summer behind us I would have said before the season started that anything above mid-table is a good result, but seeing us high up the table at this early stage raises expectation. All I know is we're in 5th at the moment and haven't seen anything like the best from the players just yet.

For the record, I admire Greenie's confidence but as you say, time will tell.

Eddie did say to the local press at the start of the season he expected us to be challenging for the title again. Hope he can do some tinkering and get us back on a run like we had from Feb 04 to the end of that season...

Anyway, well done Windsor on a good result. Things aren't looking too shabby for either of us Stag Meadow lot. Let's keep it up.

I'd be surprised not to see Slough up there competing, but it's a long old season and Windsor proved last year that the league is won in May, not April!!

I don't think there's anything fantastic in the league and a bit of consistency could win it for any of the better clubs (both of us included).

i'm going to be [***!!***] and point out they had three matches on the last day. In fact one of our competitors had to play 11 matches in 14 days costing them and giving us promotion.

I shall now concede defeat gracefully and bugger off! <img src="/images/graemlins/afro.gif" alt="" />
