Continuing Problems

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I upgraded the software here just over a week ago, and it has been the worse week of our 4 years or so that we have existed. frown.gif

The biggest problem at the moment is 'New Post' tracking, which is supposed to tell you when you have new posts that you have not read.

The problem is, this is not working.

My problem is to work out why.

It could be one of two reasons...

1) A hack (or mod) that I have already added

or

2) A problem with the base code

The 'New Post' tracking is running on many boards using the same software - but the majority (if not all) have less individual forums than us.

This problem, has prevented me from adding further modifications to bring you new features, as I do not want to make the situation worse.

For a short while, I will be displaying the main club forums on the index page - this will make for a longer index page, but I desperatly need to eliminate certain factors, whislt at the same time keep the forums open.

Please bare with me, as I make these changes, but I need to crack the problem before I can continue.

Ian

Ian,

Sorry to add to your problems at this difficult time, but when I clicked on the league tables, I was taken to the same page as when you click on results and there is nothing there.

Can't take the blame on that one - looks like our partners are having a couple of problems - the pages should be back shortly.

It appears to be improving - clear your cookies for me - might help it at your end - I am finding that it is a lot better than it was (although not perfect)

Hopefully I will find a fix fairly soon.

Hi Ian

Different problem, unrelated (?) to above...

Clicking on one of the links under 'Current Threads' takes me to a page that says:

Quote:
We cannot proceed.

There was a problem looking up the post in our database.

Please use your back button to return to the previous page.

Problem seems to be that the URL is missing a '0'.

Instead of '......./Cat[color:"red"]/0/Number....', the URL shows .../Cat[color:"red"]//Number...'

However, manually adding the '0' in the Address bar allows the link to work.

Hope this helps.

Thanks PJ,

A couple of people have reported that - however when I try it, I have no problems. What I need to know is the URL displayed in your browser prior to clicking the link - so I can try and replicate the problem.

OK, well the URL shown for this thread is:

[color:"purple"] http:// www.fansfocus.com/forum/showflat.php?Cat...cf67#Post355377

Does that help? (NB - there is no space after 'http://' - I have added one so that the whole URL is visible.)

Tested on top 'current thread' (Kingstonian Game).

Effect seems to be the same from whatever page).

The current threads seem to work fine on the URL above - however I have found pages where it is not (tables, fixtures etc.) - so I will try to correct that and hopefully it will also correct it from the pages that you are viewing from. laugh.gif
