Brentwood has to be replayed.

Recommended Posts

Romford become yet another victim of governing body c&ck ups.

We ask Essex F.A. if Harvey can play, get told yes, then get penalised for playing him by ESL

To top it all it takes three months to make a decision. I also understand that Brentwood had no problem with the result standing.

Why should we replay a game when we done nothing wrong. Typical buracrats!

Yeah but look at the background and injustice of it all.

It would be interesting if the ESL made public the reasoning behind the decision made because to me it contravenes the cause of natural justice.

But no doubt they never will and I hope that when the FA set up the new league structures for level five they back this up by providing a strict set of rules for transparent management by each executive committee involved.

Why should we even be replaying the game when we did nothing wrong.

Twinkle is right, why don't the powers to be at leat explain the logic of their decision.

This happened to us a few years back with the reserves in the EST semi. we beat Aveley 4-3 then they complained that we fielded too many first teamers. The rules were so ambiguous they could be interpreted many different ways. So the Essex FA chose to back Aveley and we were chucked out when who was right and who was wrong was never clear. They should have just admitted the rules were a mess and replayed the game.

Why is it never the fault of the governing bodies?

If as you suggest this looks like an ineligble player case then why have a go at the League when they can't do anything without the County FA acting first ? On past experience, the ESL do not deduct points( except if it is a draw )and probably won't do anything to the League table before the New Year in case the club in question protest the decision. They expunge records and replay games where the offending party wins and deduct one point if the parties have drawn. If the party involved had lost the game then it remains that way. The ESL would not have said or printed anything about this as it would have been totally unfair to the party concerned whose case, I repeat is with the County FA, not the League !

Sorry, I may not have explained the full situation, there are some misunderstandings here.

My understanding is that the ESL asked all clubs to check with the County FA re suspensions hanging over from last season. Romford had an concern about one of their players who had been injured and was now fit to play in the Brentwood game.

So as instructed by the ESL, they asked the County FA who said, yes he can play, no record of a suspension. He played, we won 5-1, both teams happy.

Then when the ESL get their copy of the team sheet, they check against data they either have received since or failed to check at the time that says that player was suspended.

So you see, Romford followed the instructions of the league, spoke to the County FA, got the answer. So ok there has been some admin c*ck up, these things happen, but why should Romford been punished by risking the three points in replaying the game when they did everything they could and were advised to avoid the problem.

Also I assume the player concerned has since served his suspension in other games or period of time so you could call it a double whammy.

To me it is another case of no matter whos at fault the powers to be have to be seen to be penalising the club.

What else can a girl do!

I am not too au fait on how these machinations work, but if the county FA dish out suspensions, fines etc, then if in doubt, where do you go if you have a problem? Right first time. So, if the club have followed the correct procedure, can somebody explain why the game has to be replayed, or am I missing something here?

To be honest though brentwood wasn't happy about result as they lost and played an awful game. Plus a replay will bring in more home game cash.

It has been known about a month after the game that it will have to be replayed? Maybe the gossip that I heard wasn't official.
