Social Facilites Reviewed - Part 1

Recommended Posts

Right then, it is ESL social facilities resume time.

BARKINGSIDE: Well run by the Chapman family, but crap wine out of a bag. Wouldn't even cook with it. Used to have a pretty little minx working behind the bar and when drunk, I asked her where she got her fake tan from, (it was March) and she said she was half Indian....d'oh!

BASILDON: Much improved from previous years and run by a bloke who managed D & R a few years ago whose name escapes me. They sell Pinot too! But the only downer is that they stick coinage of the realm to the bar with super glue, which can be somewhat disconcerting after two bottles+!.

BOWERS: Was never known for having the happiest of faces behind the jump. Only sells Leibfraumilch (yeuk) so a couple of years back went down the offy, bought two bottles of Pinot and asked the bloke if I could put them in the fridge and pay corkage. Never took the corkage but chilled them anyway. Didn't even smile for my cheek!

BRENTWOOD: There have one or two beer famines here in the past. Same people been running the place since they first moved in, in 1993. Remember asking for a bottle a couple of years back and he wanted to charge me a tenner. We bartered him down to £3!

BURNHAM RAMBLERS: Good place is the Ramblers. Nice town with good pubs and a football social club to match. Normally only the small bar open, but good bar staff always means a short stay at the bar. Limited wine selection, but passable.

.....more to follow (too much information to do it all in one hit).
