Victim of the fixture list

Recommended Posts

I think Andy Ford has fallen victim to our fixture list.

If you look at our brilliant start ( which included draws with Northwich and Canvey ) the only really impressive result was at Accrington. I thought at the time that York was a good result but subsequent events have shown it to be average.

If you look at our terrible run only Burton ( our bogey team ) and Farnborough stand out as unexpected results. Yes the top sides all spanked us, that is why they are the top sides.

Whoever takes over will have a short period of grace and then in March we play the sides at or near the bottom of the league. Three wins in March will see the new manager hailed as the messiah and kick off more talk of promotion next season.....which will be about as realistic as talk of promotion this season was in September.

Good luck to Andy Ford whatever he does in the future and thanks for all the memories...my favourite was the week after J.C.'s the trip to Margate to put 5 past them on their own ground in the cup final was a celebration from before the kick off when the boys paraded the Rymans trophy to the final whistle.

Five nil to the Champions.

I think the team continuty at the start of the season was a key to the success then. It was an impressive start and maybe some of us got a little carried away. We gave as good as we got against some of the top teams too. The down turn in fortunes seemed to stem from conceding that 94th minute defeat at Aldershot when we deserved at least a draw. I think we have just suffered a bad run and unfortunately the Manager has felt the need to go. Shame, but that's life!!!!!

I don't quite see how creating two or three half-decent chances all game was a performance worthy of 'at least a draw', but there you go.

Yes, Slarti - that wasn't a bad follow-up to the Bedford game, was it? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

And a good point about the fixture list, too.
