At a meeting yesterday, Member Clubs of the Football Conference, voted overwhelmingly to increase promotion and relegation between Conference National, Conference North and Conference South from season 2005/2006 onwards.

The implementation to increase promotion and relegation would come into effect at the end of season 2005/2006 when the Conference National would relegate TWO CLUBS, one to each of Conference North and Conference South, while promoting FOUR CLUBS, two from each from Conference North and Conference South.

To accommodate the increase in promotion and relegation the Conference National would increase its Member Clubs from the current 22 to 24 at the commencement of season 2006/2007 with four clubs being promoted and relegated at the end of that season. Approval from the Football Association for the changes has been requested.

Conference Chief Executive, John Moules, said “once again the Conference seeks to provide ambitious and successful clubs in the national game structure with increase promotion opportunities”.
