Chelmsford's Mid-Season Ground Switch

How can the Ryman League sanction Chelmsford moving to their new home ground in the middle of this season? Surely all teams should play 'away' to Chelmsford on the same pitch for the sake of a level playing field (excuse the pun).

Chelmsford's game against us on Monday was virtually a home game for them. If our return game comes after the switch it won't be the same for us.

I'm sure none of the 92 league teams would ever be allowed to switch mid-season for the same reason.

Another very good point ! Must admit I hadn't thought about that one, but very true. Some clubs have good pitches some poor, some grounds give one team an advantage, others are a handicap - to change mid-season surely cannot be fair over the course of a season. And this is not an anti-Chelmo post, as I have a couple of mates that are keen City fans and have considered the Clarets as my second team in the past( a looooooooooooooooooooooooooong way behind Ricay of course, especially as we are Ryman rivals now !)

Is it "National Sensible Soccer Fans Day" today or what ?

I must admit, I don't recall many picthes that slope as much as New Lodge either! There could well be some teams that find it difficult to play on the slope, but will have to against Chelmsford, but others that won't have to suffer it.

Are there any slopier pitches in non-league football?

Not non-league anymore but Barnets Underhill ground is notorious for its sloping pitch
