Gary, it's not the papers job to read websites, the only way to help yourself is to feed them information. There are two people covering all the sports coverage for the various editions of the paper and the sports with the best coverage are those that submit their own reports! Not ideal I know but that's the way it is and, by the way, Bryce is not the sports editor so if you have a complaint there is someone above him.

The Observer operate in a very similar way and don't think for one minute that if there's any [****!!****] to be stirred they won't be on the case straight away - they're both in the business of trying to sell extra copies!

No, it isn't necessarily their job to read websites but I assume, maybe incorrectly, that if they print facts, details and information they have a duty to check that it is correct to the best of their knowledge.

As the majority of up-to-date information regarding the club appears on the official website or this forum, it's not beyond their capabilities for them to occasionally check. I suspect if there was a major announcement on here they'd pick it up soon enough.

utter rubbish..its their business to report the correct information...if they are not interested then maybe nothing should be in the paper at all!

Maybe that would suit them better as sometimes we don't get a reporter to any of our matches but actually to report Slough were away ! but if they bothered to just check the info they would get everything they need to know from our web site..where we know they look to find out all gossip just ashame when it comes to facts the facts are not reported correctly !

Have to disagree with the criticism of the Express this time, though I did think the rent article few weeks ago was both bizarre and unnecessary.

The Express,as far as I can see, has not printed anything incorrect. The match is listed as on Saturday, September 3rd. No time is given. It would have been to the club's benefit for it to have been publicised as starting at 1.00pm, so the onus was with the club to make sure it happened.PR needs to be thought through, and not bolted on if someone remembers. Not knocking anyone, just making an observation.

Moving on, how can we ensure that this doesn't happen again.Relations with the press are extremely important, as that is how we currently get our messages across to all but the faithful, and like it or not, that may involve a bit of ar*e licking.

I think the main criticism is that the match is listed as Braintree vs Slough, rather than the other way round. If someone reads this and assumes it's correct, they may not double-check and consequently we won't see them at Stag Meadow tomorrow.

and the poor buggers will end up in Braintree!!!

And worse still they'll be there at 3.00 pm.

The Observer doesn't seem to have mentioned the early kick off either. Can't help but think we've missed an opportunity there as well.

Sorry to say Ted but that paper is crap. Three weeks ago it showed a picture of a bridge outside my mums house, saying that the bridge was to be raised. The reason for this was to allow for overhead cable to be fitted for the electrification of the line, what they failed to notice was that the trains ran over the bridge.

And befofe anyone says it, this has nothing to do with football.

as one who used to work at a little paper and currently writes for a student paper, i cannot stress how important it is for relations to move BOTH ways for correct information to go ahead. Strict deadlines plus the fact that you have to check everything with the legal teams before you can go to print , and the fact that journos are poorly paid and understaffed means that unless they are given help mistakes will happen.

Having said that, I do think that the negative press that has sometimes been provided is a little out of order and i am certainly not an advocate of that.
