Are these the same Wings fans who thought that they were going to sign Gary Abbott

I think you'll find Abbo was about to sign but then witnessed the Windsor game!

New and especially resignings tend to leak out at PVR to "these same Welling fans"

With Aaron and Nick both fit, Jamie Coyle gaining in confidence, Craig available if need be and Francis well on his way to recovery, I'm not sure that, even if Lew is going, we would need to sign another central defender.

Far better to leave the cash available if we need it later in the season.

From the Kentish Times, 14 November:

"I've wanted to have another go at the Conference," said Abbott, who was set to sign for Welling until (Andy) Ford intervened.

"I was due to sign at midday on Monday for Welling but Andy Ford rang me on Sunday afternoon and I didn't take too long making my mind up."

Whilst I'm not ruling out a return to PVR for Watts, there was far more substance to the Abbo rumours.

I see the other's coming back as a bonus, not an excuse to get rid of Lew.

I suspect that Lew may have thought that with the others coming back, he'd be unable to command a first team place.......something that's probably crossed a few of our players' minds.

Can't wait for it! The competition for places will be superb, the squad will be superb, we'll be superb!!

Boothy played very well on his debut but im sure a few more weeks with us will bring him down to our level. Good news Welling have got Lew back, the profit we made in the bar will double.

Judging by some of his diaplays last season I don't think Lew does a lot of thinking. However with a strong minded no nonsense manager in charge, we hope he can get back to his form of a few seasons ago.

Thanks for Paul Booth - first impressions are that he will be a welcome addition at Park View Road
