X England Star Joins Reds

Midland Football Alliance side Willenhall Town have signed Ex-England International Mark Walters.

The Red's, who travel to Morpeth Town in the third round of the FA Vase on 7th December, took a leaf out of their opponents books, as Morpeth famously tried to entice "Gazza" , but manager Rob Smith went one better when he gained the signature of the former Liverpool, Aston Villa, Rangers and Wolverhampton Wanderers flying left winger.

Walters had turned out for Express & Star League side Tividale on Saturday, but Smith recognised the opportunity to add the experienced star to his promotion seeking side and moved swiftly to secure the deal.

Walters will make his Red's Noose Lane debut this Saturday (30th November) at home to Shifnal Town in the league and in a real twist of fortunes, Smith is hopeful that Walters will face up to a Morpeth side who Gazza turned down earlier this week.

Earlier this season the Reds FA Cup opponents Glapwell had ex-England and Newcastle star Chris Waddle in their squad.

Willenhall are no strangers to big name stars, in the 1980's they had ex-Wolves and Scotland legend Willie Carr turning out for them.
