Stockport Stewards

I noticed in last night's programme, that Stockport have charged us £1,700 for stewarding at the match. Is this a joke? Surely, the stewards only earn, at the very most, £10-£20 for a match, which means there must have been about 100 of them. Please explain...

have we ever been charged before for stewarding eg at Bristol, is this some Nationwide league thingy to compensate for lost TV revenue.

No, I think they're just robbing us. As I recall, the official gate at Bristol was dubious. 7,000 or there abouts, when the ground, much larger than Stockport, we over half full.

Yeah Bristol gave out 7,500, even their lot reckoned it was nearer 10.000

The £1,700 has been charged to the club in relation to the stewards having to call in the police. Well, so I'm told.

So it costs £1,700 to call out (I think) 4 fat policemen! I think they are having a laugh.

The police were already there, games at the level have a certain police presence anyway!

Anyway I'm sure you wouldn't get charged for calling the police out after all they are an emergency service. If you ask for the event to be policed thats when they charge you. After the Millwall v Brum riot last season all them police were called, the police said they wanted to cahrge Millwall foe all the extra police but couldn't, suggesting to me you don't get charged when they are called out.

 

We should ask Kingstonian and Aylesbury if they got charged when the police were called to the recent games with us!

 

Also this proves that Stockport should sack thier stewards as by calling the police they are wasting the clubs money and wasting police time (which is an offence,isn't it?)

I wonder what the police presence at Canvey last time round cost? Three van loads and Big George still managed to get into a scrap there.
