Just seen the short list for this years Turner Prize.

 

God what utter [****!!****] is that.

You may think what is on show in the old Marks and Spencer building is crap but this lot is a joke.

 

If any of it finds its way into OUR new art centre people will be able to see what a complete waste of public money the venture is.

went to the turner prize at the same time as their fireworks open day thing and have to say i'm actually really impressed by some of the entrants and finalists this year. Turner Prize fills a void in the art world which is a prize which EVERYONE knows about, and its hoped that the prize raises enough awareness so that people will try out other exhibitions. Admitedly sometimes it can have the reverse effect and scare people away. If you don't want to be scared by artwork, i suggest the slide installation at the tate modern. Couldnt get on because of the ques but looked like alot of fun...

 

any news on the turner contemporary. Can we buy a brick yet!!??

TC has an amazing amount of potential. unfortunately its not only under the wrong council in TDC but some of the people who work their as well are idiots.
