Midland Football Alliance

BOLDMERE ST. MICHAELS 3 vs WILLENHALL 0

The Mikes taught the Reds a lesson in defending and taking chances on a muddy pitch in front of a crowd of 81 brave fans.

The Mikes soaked up some severe Reds pressure in the second half, and converted all 3 of their chances to secure some much needed points.

In an even first half, the chances were rare, on 17 minutes a Grosvenor cross was meet by a high jumping Walker, his header was brilliantly tipped away by Mikes keeper Knight.

The break through came on 20 minutes when following a goalmouth scramble Busby saw his effort slip through Vaughans hands into the goal.

After a half time roasting and a double substitution, the Reds started to apply some pressure on the Mikes defence. Just 2 minutes into the second half and on loan signing Jason Smith slid the ball to Whitcombe whose shot was blocked by Knight, the rebound was then blasted over by Smith.

On 55 minutes Walker saw his powerful shot hit a defender's leg, and a minute later a good move saw a Bullimore through ball to Smith. His low effort was again blocked by in form Knight, Quilt blasted the rebound only to see a defender on the line clear his effort.

Sub Moseley collected the ball on the half line before dribbling his way through the Mikes defence, before his low shot went just wide on 60 minutes.

Against the run of play a harmless looking ball was fumbled by Vaughan and up stepped an unmarked Brush to accept the invitation of an open net to double the score.

The nail in the Reds coffin was hammered in on 82 minutes when Burgess who appeared to be in an off side position slotted the ball home for the Mikes 3rd.

The Reds now visit Bridgnorth on Tuesday before entertaining Causeway on Saturday 8th Feb.

Ex-England and Aston Villa star Mark Walters has left the Noose Lane club after just 7 games, his arrival marked the start of the Reds slump and he has decided to leave the club.
