Yeading 1 Hornchurch 2

A controversial end to a game and just reward for plugging away after falling behind to an early goal.

New signing Jamie Southon nearly made an immediate impact in the first minute when his 18 yard strike forced and excellent save from Yeading keeper Matt Hodson. A minute later though Yeading scored. Paul Wood came a long way out of his goal to clear a long upfield ball but it only went as far as Nevin Sardya on the touchline who sent it straight back into the penalty area where Matt Miller looped a first time effort into the unguarded net. Despite having much of the play as usual it wasn't until the last 10 minutes of the half that we really tested Hodson again. He pushed wide Danny Benstock's 18 yard shot from a quickly taken free kick and repeated the same heroics a few minutes later with an Andrew Martin effort from the corner of the area.

Danny Benstock had early chances in the second half, shooting just over from a first time shot from 20 yards in the 53rd minute and then heading just wide from a Martin cross 4 minutes later. When Martin headed over from a Jones cross in injury time, a second successive defeat looked likely. However everything turned around in a matter of minutes. First, Adam Locke rose to nod in a flighted Benstock free kick in the 5th minute of added-on time and then two minutes later Jamie Southon headed home another Benstock free kick. But it wasn't that cut and dried as the referee decided to blow for full time as the chance went in and appeared to rule the goal out. However, after consultation with his assistant, he ruled that the ball had crossed the line before he called time.

Line-up:- Wood, McGowan, Kimble (Stowe 65), Gooding, Jopson, McDonald (Locke 74), Southon, Martin, Jones, Cripps (Carter 80), Benstock. Subs not used:- Fox, Kharine.

Cricket played well, won many headers driving the team on

Yep he'll do for me, but let's not forget that it's a team game and everyone in our squad has a part to play.

Also please let's give credit to our substitutions from Mick and the gang.

Good goal Lockie with two assists from Beno, excellent we kept plugging away and as I've always encouraged you lads to raise your game, you did, well done to all those present and not forgetting the travelling support.

pretty accurate as usual Rob...nice one...

to be fair to Yeading they did fancy their chances and were also prepared to mix it as well which surprised me...in fact they were rather lucky I think that the ref was so tolerant. It was a hard game and their spoiling tactics were disgraceful...at one time there were three of their players flat out on the pitch for at least 5 minutes and none of them went off.

As for us...well full marks to Mick who went there to win which was reflected by his team selection...Gav in the middle of the park was superb...Jamie Southon....(alrite..The Cricket) was just what we've been missing in midfield and Taff and Jonah looked good again up front together...it realy is only a matter of time surely....but its not really fair to pick anyone out because the whole team played well in difficult circumstances....(very cold and very physical) and in the end got their just rewards...serves Ding right for all the time wasting...that'll teach em....best moment of the game for me...seeing Lockie come on and start to link up with Jamie....add Cowley to that and its mouth watering in its prospects...great goal Lockie...real class mate....

nice people at the club although that gessa kicking at the refs cage was one of their officials (lost it big time I'm afraid and not nice to see in front of the ladies and the kids) so there'll be 'afters' about that I'm sure...... made us feel very welcome...great idea the shepherds pie in the boardroom on a freezing rymans evening by the way...all in all a satisfying drive home and the other results also went our way...two more wins now on the trot and the camels will bottle it...no game for Northwood on Tuesday either so lets go to Thurrock and get those points...its a fight to the end and every point counts now as the pressure rises on those behind us...well done Mick and the lads...and the fans as well....feels good this morning....

yu forgot to mention the match 'officials' boss, they let the game flow and, even allowing for the usual [****!!****] ups re offdsides etc, had the balls to make the right decision at the end, a lot of refs and linos would have bottled that and called it a 1-1 draw, would we have complained that much having just got out of jail, probably not, well done ref and lino, justice was done, the ball was well in.
