I think you have hit the nail on the head, Greg. He, and several players, have spoken of the "three year plan" to get promoted. I suspect Billy's salary reflects this, and he, quite reasonably wants a Premiership salary now, not in 2 years' time.

It's a sorry state of affairs isn't it that everything boils down to money nowadays. It's not for the love of the beautiful game anymore as it was in the good old days of Clough and Taylor, Billy Davies wouldn't have been considered good enough to clean their boots or wipe their backsides back then.
