Poster idea

Stu M.

What can I say? An excellent poster. As explained in a previous thread I've also designed a poster, which is just as good in my unbiased opinion grin.gif

However, I don't want this deterioating into some sort of "Poster Competition" over the summer - so can we let common sense prevail and go with what you have done.

At the end of the day - the aim is simple - to raise the profile of the Club within the local area's, especially the town centre. However, this will need a CO-ORDINATED means of doing this.

One question, how is it to be agreed *WHO* will be sending/distributing posters to *WHICH* addresses?

There is no point someone sending 5 posters to the Somerset Arms if somebody else has already done it. Things will quickly become a farce!

Maybe the Supporters Trust could take the lead on this? There seems to be sufficiently strong feeling on here for it to merit discussion at the Supporters Trust Meeting on the 12th? Even the Chairmen has commented on the idea - Blimey Guv'nor! blush.gif

Stu M. - how about getting:

a) the Club's Tel No: 01474-533 796 and

B) the www.gnfc.co.uk URL

added to the poster. If Dave see's a drastic increase in his page counter hits then you know the advertising is working.

I'd certainly be interested in having a full copy of the file

Cheers

Jim

2 other points:

a) Prices. The posters ought to tell new supporters how much its going to cost them to get into the ground depending on their category i.e. Adult, OAP etc.

B) If they are going to get plastered all round the town will the Gravesend Reporter (First Team Sponsors) and Jamestown Metals Ltd (Club Sponsors) not get a little peeved if they dont get a mention on it seeing the Nationwide flag is quite prominent?

Just thought it was worth considering - seeing the Reporter sponsorship deal is up at the end of next season (I think).

Might be worth getting the Club to offically approve the final version of the poster so everyone knows the Club is happy with it before people start distributing it.

Anyhow, I've said more than enough on the subject - apologies all!.

I was thinking maybe that printing costs could be covered by those who's logos we put on - not necessarily current sponsors but new ones. Off the top of my head, I reckon 1,000 A4-sized posters in colour would be about £200 - charge the companies say £500 to cover the cost of printing with £300 of that to get their logos emblazoned around town.

Taken the other points on board, cheers, Jim and would be good to put web address, phone, entrance details etc on it. Can be changed easy enough! wink.gif

Until the meeting on the 12th there is no Supporters Trust. This meeting is to set up the trust and organise a working party to get everything started. While it would be nice to have a open discussion on fund raising etc, this would mean booking the hall for the 12th, 13th and 14th.

Once the trust has been created and the working party formed, then it will be all systems go. In the meantime, keep those ideas coming, nothing will be ignored.

Maybe if someone contacted the very amenable Matthew Panting at the Reporter( Tel: 0208 269 7000, e mail ktn.sport@inuk.co.uk) and put the proposal to him, they could get involved e.g.

1. let them have a "Follow the Fleet in the Reporter every week" logo across the top or bottom

2. Make the poster timeless by having a line which reads NEXT HOME GAME AT STONEBRIDGE ROAD over plain white box which can be left empty for the name of the next opponents & kick off time to be written in

3. Persuade the Reporter to print, say 2000( i.e. 20 games, 100 posters for each game).

4. Get them to put one up outside every nesagent in the area instead of their usual posters.

They get the publicity, the club gets the publicity - everybody's happy!!

I'll give the guy from the Reporter a bell if I get time later today.

Regarding the poster - it's not the finished article, merely an idea, so I'll take all suggestions on board - given that we don't have any forthcoming fixtures for a while, I have time! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Anyway, if the Reporter are interested, they might want to change everything anyway!
