...Ensure his death, make it very public and remebered by many whilst becoming a martyr for his 'cause'...

Is that not exactly what he set out to do pre-September 11th 2001?

That is pretty much what he was setting out to do. One thing I don't understand is how even in punishing them we give them what they want. I'll never understand this world. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/shrug.gif" alt="" />

Just put him in prison and let the hardened criminals have their way, see if the Muslims think he is a martyr then!

There is no evidence from any country in the world that capitol punishment deters murder or any other crime, If a criminal believes he will be executed for his crime he will murder to evade capture.
I spent time working in an Arab state that beheaded murderers and every major town and many minor towns carried out executions every Friday, I repeat every Friday!
If the sole desire of a bomber etc is to become a martyr then every hanging recruits more nutters to the cause, make them spend twenty years looking after the pigs on the prison farm!!
Having said that and admitted I have always been against capitol punishment I would kill if I got my hands on any paedophile that attempted to molest my grandchildren. That is of course emotional revenge not studied justice.
