FAO EFM the firm etc etc!!

I only post a message on here if I've got an opinion on something... and this raised my eyebrows no end, I can tell you. A couple of points:
1. Chris M, an Enfield fan living in Herts, tells us that EFM aren't a very good Sunday football team. Well, thank you for the blinding insight. A cursory glance at their league table or results could tell you that.
2. The EFM football team was started in the first place, to give some people a chance to play football on a Sunday morning. No more, no less. Not all of the players are anything like regular City supporters (if anything, it's a minority), just like Saints Supporters. Saints Supporters have been going for a few years now, and good luck to them - the fact that EFM manage to field a team given the way they've played this season is a minor miracle.
3. Chris M has looked at our players on the website and decided that "we" (whoever the hell "we" are) would struggle to beat up a bunch of brownies. Two things spring to mind - firstly, how exactly does one judge how "hard" someone is, based on their name? A curious concept. Either Chris M has some extra sensory perception that none of the rest of us have, or he individually knows the members of EFM's football team (in which case he's unlikely to be an Enfield supporter, and is more likely to be somebody just trying to start another pointless Message Board argument), or he's making absurd judgements based on... well... nothing of any value, really. Either that or he's **** near criminally stupid. I have my opinions... you can decide for yourselves. Not, of course, that it matters in the slightest how "hard" they are. I have no interest in fighting, and never have had.
4. If you read the EFM website, or, indeed, any posts from members of EFM on the City website, you'd pretty quick to realise that the whole "EFM" thing is a p*sstake. I am by no means their spokesman, but you can rest assured that any "inane drivel" left on here is done purely for the amusement of whoever is writing it (step forward and take a bow, Colin).
5. I daresay that we'll now get 50 indignant replies regarding the behaviour of "EFM" at Canvey, Aldershot, etc etc etc... I would say that any trouble in the past has had more to do with mixing young adult males with alcohol that innate football hooliganism. I'm not being apologetic for their behaviour here, just hoping that they grow out of it.
6. If the criticism had come from a City fan who'd seen it close up, then, fair enough. From one of the Enfield 50, it's a little hard to take. The whole concept if "EFM: The Firm" is a joke, even if it's taken a little too seriously by some.
7. I was going to type a rant against the pathetic shadow of a once great team at this point, but, quite frankly, we have bigger fish to fry than this pointless little debate right now. Messages of support are all very welcome, but if you'd kindly keep your opinions on other subjects to yourself, I'd be very grateful.

I've read your latest messages, and have to say that you have talked the most nonsense anybody has posted on this forum!
You say that St. Albans City have a "firm", and that your Sunday league football team, are the lads who cause havoc at away grounds............complete bollox!! I've read the team list for your next game, and the names mentioned would struggle beating up the local brownies!
St. Albans are in a real mess, and need support from other non-league fans, don't try and make what is a good club, into one that is disliked by all other Ryman League clubs with your complete drivel! mad.gif" border="0

We could just hit him!!!!!
ho ho ho ho ho ho!
By the way the chairman of Enfield Tony wattsisface has been posting Lee Hardings home phone number and details on our website!

How funny is that!!!
I'm not going into the EFM debate again, pisstaking is basically the best way of describing it and the ones who don't understand that are proberly the same people who thought the Brasseye special last year was a serious documentry.
We also have a number of people who log in on the EFM name which will explain a normal answer like this and a badly spelt rant about essex (although any slagging oarf of essex get's the thumbs up in my book)
Oh My God! It's the website of the harde...ble at Croydon.
Now I'm off to Millwall v Cardiff

At which point did I say the football they played was poor??!!!
The reason I know that your "firm" (pretend or otherwise...pathetic either way!) are soft, is because I recognise the names on there!! Did you stop to think I might know of some of those people.......no, didn't think so!!
Concentrate on keeping your club going you nonce!

Chris M. Are you instigating/suggesting that the fans are doing nothing to help? How do you know this so-called fact? Did Lee Harding tell you?
Could someone enlighten him as to how much the fans raised for the Bedford game please.
[ 25 January 2002: This message was edited by: GrandHighAviator ]

You may think that now THM but I'd say you would be wiser to save your judgement on that one until after the DTI have completed the whole of their investigations. I don't imagine it will be just the affairs of Messrs Berley and Co that they will be looking in to.

Gah! Gaaah! Gaaaaaahhhhhhhh!
As you've probably all guessed by now, I'm just about fit to burst by now. So... in lieu of a rant against Enfield, which would be self-obvious and would ruin my karma no end, here's a little tale...
My dad's an Enfield fan, and I fully suspect that he wanted me to be one too. When we lived in Enfield, I was co-opted by him as an Enfield season-ticket holder. Those were days that I vividly remember - 1982 FA Trophy Final against Altrincham, FA Cup Matches against Port Vale, Barnsley, Crystal Palace, Wimbledon, Exeter and an Alliance League championship. In 1982, we moved to St Albans, and, although the distance wasn't very far, it was too far for a ten year old boy. The old man would still go to the big matches - Leyton Orient in the cup, the FA Trophy semi-final marathon against Barrow (and both matches in the final against Telford)... I'd go with him, but it wasn't my home town, and I lost my allegiance to City - gradually, and over a period of time.
I still hold fondness for those times, but I bleed blue and yellow now, not blue and white. The biggest tragedy of all is that we may go the same way as Enfield now. Playing miles from home, in front of 80-odd people who refuse to acceptthe bitter truth - that their club died when their chairman sold them down the river. If we hadn't moved from Enfield, I too would be an Enfield Town supporter.
The only assumption that I possibly come to is that the bitter Enfield 50 are enjoying a little schadenfreude here. Happy to see another club going through what yours went through, Chris? Hovering around like vultures, waiting to see what scraps might get thrown your way? As I said before, messages of support are very welcome, but if you can't say anything constructive, then don't say anything at all. If Enfield fans had put as much effort into their own club as they have put into the comments that have gone onto this website, they wouldn't be the laughing stocks they are.
P.S. I'm glad to see that City supporters seem to see what EFM is about. They'll grow out of it - well, most of them will, anyway...
