Headline Hunters

If anyone has read the Romford Recorders version of Tuesdays events this morning, you could be forgiven for thinking that Dmitri played like a blind man...what a terrible headline and what a poor record of what was a very good match indeed and, more importantly, one that Dmitri kept us in throughout the first half with three world class saves. No mention of that in the headlines of course, wouldn't make such good reading would it, very disappointing Sports desk, you will have to do better and if you didn't see the massive deflection that caused Dmitri to spill the ball from Rob Newmans shot, then you weren't watching properly were you...compare todays offering with the toadying article on Dmitri last week (which he was obviously graceful enough to give you) and you have what you have, just another excuse for knocking a big name...nice foto of our Gav by the way...

Yes, I thought the article was a bit, shall we say, 'headline orientated...it happens from time to time....that's what they get paid for.....problem is...we can't have it both ways...we have actively courted coverage from the Recorder, and numerous other publications, and the down side of that is we can't really whinge when the sports desks aren't to kind to us....in truth, Dmitri has made a couple of ricketts as well as making some very good saves...we chose to embark on this particular journey so we have to understand that we are attracting interest and comment and sometimes it won't be to our liking...we just have to accept that with good grace and get on with it...in fairness to young Gary (and Peter and Lee) at the Recorder...they have supported our endeavours all season...so lets just move forward...we can't have it all our own way all the time... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cool_shades.gif" alt="" />

Truth hurts as they say. Kharine 3 games, 3 dodgy performances 3 goals down to him !!!!!!!!!!! Not exactly world class. Paul Wood was excellent and must feel hard done by. Many fellow supporters feel the same way. Its only our view and we are only just supporters

the truth doesn't hurt at all. We all see what we see, we all know what we know, what does hurt, is when our own so called supporters unhealthily and rapidly jump on the band wagon to knock the club in everything that they do, that's really what this debate is all about, do you really think that this journey that we're on was going to be without incident or controversy, we're aint Arsenal or Manchester Utd so surely our small band of supporters are capable of just enjoying whats going on, difference of opinion ot not, without trying to get into everyones face, (what do they want, the past back again) the recorder are out of order, never mind the dimitrie headline look at the one from the Gt Wakering game, was he really there, no mention that the ref sent another four players, including the manager, off when the final whistle blew and that there was a flair up in the dressing room with doors being kicked in, as for young baines, where's he sit when he comes to the stadium, youve guessed, directors box every time, we accept what 'official' is saying and suppose that he's right but it all just seems to me to be about knocking us, and putting anyone with a big name down, as soon as the opportunity arrives, this is football, whats all this about feeling sorry for woodie, how many mistakes has he made this year then,? i havent got a problem with woods, think hes great but as soon as we sign a player everyone wants a disaster, lets play the old third division promotion squad in its entirety and see where we get this year, I'll tell you , the second division, anyone know where woolfie is, throwing his dummy out of the pram more like, great support, why dont somebody say something about that. I tell you this, i wouldnt want to be in the trenches with some of you lot thats for sure. backstabbers.

I creep around the ground at all the games and no one takes any notice of me now I'm an old fart, but there does seem to be a feeling that kharine isn't what he used to be and that the club have made a mistake in signing him, perhaps there is something to be said for the one month contract, judging by previous contracts a fair degree of caution sems to have been exercised. As for the reporters, don't be to hard on those guys, they've got a job to do and it ain't easy covering a dozen local teams with three guys, I think that they've been quite supportive so far but I do agree that sometimes when you read the reports you could easily believe that they were'nt there. in any event, you have had good coverage urchins, don't knock it. As for woods, well he's back in saturday so lets see what happens, I'll have me christmas jumper under me mac tommorrow so lets see if you can spot me!!!!

good debate, but I do think that we're being a little unfair towards the Recorder, they do have a difficult job and, unlike their counterparts covering big games, they don't have the benefit if video footage, so, they will get it wrong sometimes, even now, when an incident occurs on the pitch or someone scores a goal, I'm looking around for the big replay screen. We don't do to badly from the press, they've supported us all year.

As for the players, well, it is true to say that a few people around the club would like to see a big name fail but you will always get that, at any club, how many other non league clubs have done what we've done, non of them, ever, full marks to our directors for having the nerve to do it and not hide from the comments on here (see Official and un-official) all in all we are doing okay and I'm a supporter so I don't share the view of the other supporter above, we are not just supporters, we are an important part of whats going on at the club. As for Dmitri, any mistake (and all keepers make them) was always going to be highlighted, thats football and thats football life for big names, Dmitri has earned a lot of money from his time in football, he's big enough to take it, he knows he's made mistakes, we will shortly see just what he is made of and how much he cares for our little old club. Good Luck this afternoon, I will not be there, shifts call, but in spirit I will be.
