They were playing West Auckland Town who won 'the first world cup'plus, I just had to find out how they got their name.

I have never heard anyone from Sunderland being referred to as Plastic Geordies. A true geordie is someone born within a mile of the Tyne. All others in the city used to be called plastic geordies but this has changed over the years.

 

Newcastle = Geordies

Sunderland = Makems

Middlesborough = Smoggies.
