Those of you that played against Edgware Town last season and/or know their joint manager Del Deanus may be interested in the following e-mail that I received directly from Tottenham Hotspur this evening:

DEL'S MATCH

Non League All Stars v Professional / Celebrity Dream Team

A STAR studded football match being held to raise funds for a terminally ill former England schoolboy international is kicking-off in Edgware on Saturday 10 May.

Del Deanus, 34, played youth team for Tottenham Hotspur and is currently co-manager of Ryman Division 1 North side Edgware Town FC. He has recently been diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Football stars including former Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers legend Les Ferdinand and Ex-Chelsea hero Frank Sinclair will be joining music and film celebrities to play against a top notch non-league side. The semi-pro side will consist of players from teams including Hendon, Wealdstone, Northwood and Edgware FC.

There will even be a chance for two lucky people to rub shoulders, swap tactics and play with the professional side. This once in a lifetime opportunity is being auctioned to raise money for Del's care and well-being in the future months. To give yourself a chance of realising this dream simply email your bid to (still awaiting email address). Bidding starts at

Out of interest has anybody purchased Del Deanus's recently published book as yet called 'Dels Story - Living with MND'. On 16 November Del travelled to Man Utd's training ground to meet Ryan Giggs, Nicky Barmby and Dave Bushell as Del played in the same England Schoolboy Team as Giggs and Barmby, Bushell, who is now United's Education Director, was the Manager of that 1989 side. The trip was organised as one of the promotions for the book Del has written over a long period of time since sadly being diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease.

Incidentally those of you on Facebook may want to join the Group 'Raising Money for the MND Association' as there is a lot about Del's plight on there

I assume everyone has now purchased a copy of Del's amazing book, what are your thoughts out of interest particularly Football Man's who started this thread and claims to be Del's friend:

So who did eventually purchase a copy of Del's amazing book 'Memories Never Die', what's your verdict. I last saw Del at the Ryman League Division 1 Playoff Semi Final between Wingate & Finchley and Enfield Town in April and he was sadly confined to a wheelchair:
