Concord Rangers Res 3-2 Heybridge Swifts Res

Recommended Posts

The Reserves had an impressive start to the season, gaining all 3 points against last years runaway champions, Heybridge Swifts.

Concord included experienced campaigner Danny Hayzelden in their line up, and in the end he proved to be the difference (when he decided to join in after 60 minutes...!)

Rangers made all the early running, once again the back line being marshalled excellently by Tyler Phillips and Lewis Harris.

Ash Knott in an unfamiliar role at left back will have done his chances of pushing into the 1st team no harm, after settling into the game he produced an assured performance, shame he's scared of a tackle though...!

The 1st half was a tough contest, tackles going in all over the shop, with the absolute joke shop of a referee failing to grab hold of the game.

The cluless official sent off Concord midfielder Robbie Atkinson just before the interval for an alleged stamp, lets be fair if Robbie had actually stamped on him he would probably be in intensive care...!

Heybridge took the initiative in the second half, using their numerical advantage to steal both goals, having more nmbers in the box.

With their overweight gaffer going [****!!****]-a-hoop on the side line, it was karma coming back around, when 16 year old debutant Samm Bibby came on as a sub, to thread a delightful ball thropugh to Danny Hayzelden, who produced a 'RELAXED' finish to put the Rangers back into it at 2-1.

Then it was the turn of Ash Knott to play a delightful 1-2 with Hayzelden, who took his second goal with aplomb (not a plum), to cap a fine performance for the stand in skipper (are you watching Cowley?)

Concord continued to press on, even with 10 men, and with around a minute left on the clock, 16 year old Sam Bibby's cross-come-shot left the Swifts 'keeper painting the crossbar, as the ball floated over him to nestle in the far corner. A superb debut goal from the youngster, who looks to be an excellent propsect for the future.

Manager Danny Clare, joined in the dug-out by yours truly (injured, no banter) , was understandably delighted with the performance, and Rangers will look to continue their early good form aginst Great Wakering Rovers @ Burroughs Park this Wednesday night.
