Rushall's Promotion Hope Still Alive

Recommended Posts

Rushall Olympic are in a straight race with Yate Town to see who will play Dr Martens League football next season.

Rushall clinched runners-up spot in the Midland Alliance behind champions Stourbridge last week but now they must wait to see whether they get the nod from league officials ahead of Yate, who finished second in the Cherry Red Records Hellenic League.

Rushall manager Kevin Hadley said: "We are desperate to ply our trade at a higher level but now we just have to wait and see."

Olympic only lost once away from home in the league, a record that Hadley is rightly proud, but he pointed out that the defeat against Stourbridge on April 15th as the pivotal moment of the season.

"If we could have got something out of that game, then I think we would have gone on to win the league," Hadley added.

If Rushall were to get the nod it would be their first tilt at the Dr Martens League. However, Yate only came out three years ago after a disasterous 1999/2000 season.
