Citizens only manage a point

Recommended Posts

The Citizens could only manage a point from this clash with fourth placed Kingsbury London Tigers at Silver Jubilee Park this afternoon.

Welwyn showed some good football in the first hour of the game, although unable to score against their hosts in the first half. Tom Lewis's thunderbolt gave Tigers keeper, Siki Kahbila no chance 6 minutes into the second period.

Shortly after the home side were down to 10 men when one of their players, who had just come on as a substitute, was red carded. For some reason the Citizens lost their way after this and a basic defensive error led to corner from which second substitute Riand Gomes Marques scored an equaliser with 78 minutes gone.

Ex Edgware player Adil Salih was sent off for swearing at the referee taking the tigers down to nine men but the visitors could not find the killer blow to finish off the game and it must be said that the home side looked the more lickely to score again in the dying minutes.

I get the impression Del and Steve aren't having it all their own way, their well drilled team shouldn't be losing their way with twelve minutes remaining when the game is in the bag against ten men.
