Welwyn Garden City 1 - Biggleswade United 0

Recommended Posts

The Citizens made hard work of beating Biggleswade United at Herns Way tonight, it was a great individual goal by top striker Stuart Blackburne, beating two defenders and the keeper to slot the ball into the net, this the only goal in the game giving his team the 3 points.

Biggleswade lacked any real punch up front and home keeper Rob Blackburne did not have a save of note during the 90 minutes. To some extent the referee spoiled the game with some crass decisions and on occasion failed to keep up with the game.

The win takes the Citizens up two places going above Biggleswade United and St Margetsbury. Tring Athletics 3 -1 win against Leverstock Green puts them above Hertford who are now only 1 point ahead of Welwyn, but we have 2 games in hand on them.

A much tougher proposition on Saturday away against Biggleswade Town, although they were beaten 1 - 0 by Kingsbury London Tigers at Silver Jubilee Park tonight. Perhaps they are more concerned with their progress in the FA Vase where they have reached the last 8 and are due to play either Whitley Bay or Stratford Town on Saturday 28th February.

P.S What about that bet now Rhodes?
