New Welwyn Garden City manager speaks

Recommended Posts

New WGC FC boss Paul Faulkner is wasting no time in getting things going as he prepares for next season.

There's a good interview with him detailing his plans and aims in this week's copy of the Welwyn & Hatfield Times.

Here's a snippet of that interview on the paper's website,

Fingers crossed he can continue in the same vein as to what Del and Steve achieved at Herns Lane, in a short space of time....

This should be an interesting season for all those connected with WGC after the departure of the Edgware Town fun bus for pastures new. It will be interesting to see how Paul Faulkner approaches the task of rebuilding the Club and how he copes with the off pitch problems at Herns Lane. The continuing saga of ground improvements, the uneasy truce between Club social and Club football and the groundshare with Hatfield Town - were there ever two more unlikely bedfellows. It will be interesting to see what kind of side Paul puts on the field. Will he attempt to build his own squad from scratch or will he rely on mercenaries imported from his many associates operating in management at a higher level. Either way it will be a difficult task to emulate the achievements of his predecessors in the second half of last season.

Here's a more comprehensive article from the Welwyn & Hatfield Times about Paul Faulkner and highlighting a number of pre-season friendlies. Strange that Oracle, Bilbo and Bramley have been conspicuous by their absence of late:
