Midland Football Alliance

Pelsall Villa 0 vs Willenhall Town 2

The MFA season started and straight from the kick off the visitors started to dominate the game, so it came as no surprise when just 11 minutes gone Dank's deep cross was headed over keeper Cooke by Bullimore.

Despite having all the play, Town were not having the run out of the decisions, and this prevented them adding to the goals. Hay saw a goal disallowed before seeing another good chance cleared by the leg of a sliding defender just before half time.

Even with Villa having the run of most of the decisions they were well below par, and never really threatened the Willenhall goal. Town luck's was summed up on 65 minutes when Cooke, a good yard or two out of his area, punched the ball away following another Town attack, despite the ref being well placed he waved play on!

Town made 2 quick changes with striker Grosvenor replacing defender S Carter and midfielder Rochester coming on for striker Hay, the change gave the visitors different options and the move nearly paid off straight away. A minute on the field and Rochester struck the ball first time from 35 yards, his effort rocking the cross bar.

On 77 minutes a Danks low cross was volleyed into the net by Bullimore to double the lead.

Minutes later and the ref sent off Danks and a Villa defender after a tussle.

The closing minutes saw Whitcombe produced some excellent play on the edge of the box before setting up Creighton who's curling shot was just wide. Then a low Rochester cross was skipped over by Whitcombe allowing Goodall to blast the ball, keeper Cooke doing well to get down to prevent a third.
