Lovely Stuff

What happened this time then ?

Did Eton Manor signed 11 new players after saturday's game aginst Burnham ?

Mind you Eton Manor (club close to my heart) did finish in the bottom 3 for the last 5 seasons.

When you forum back up and running ? <img src="/images/graemlins/afro.gif" alt="" />

I agree with Norman and Southport. It's in the game know. I can take it on the chin if things go west for us this season. Thing is no one gives us a chance of competing for the league even you LS. When you are mean't to be one of the favourites and you only have 1 point from two home games people will look closely.

Who will be the first managerial casulty this year Jim Chandler ? ( Nothing personal ).

Your next league game is against us. I guess you will settle for nothing less than 3 points against us. After Romford who is your next game against ? With Ilford after promotion as well it looks like you may need to be champions again to go up. I reckon there are five teams that have a genuine chance of winning it.

I cannot see the Town being champions again unless they sign someone to replace Clarke. He might have got caught offside 15 times a game, but he also made goals for himself and others out of nothing. This ETFC side is not the one that ended last season. Defence shaky and lacking penetration up front. To draw with Eton Manor is as bad as losing to Basildon. Poor start to the season, a run of victories needed fast and an improvement in form otherwise clubs like Bowers and Romford will beat us too.

Unfortunately it seems that everyone else has strengthened their sides while ours has got weaker. Clarke & Saint were particularly important players. The players who have come in aren't in the same league as those guys. So why haven't we been able to get decent replacements? Is it money, or just the fact that the better players don't want to come to us in the ESL? Maybe it's just the pitch preventing the new players from showing what they can do?! Whatever it is, it makes pretty painful watching at the moment.

It is going to be a hard time for the club and fans as they have been used to such a successful two years, anything but winning trophies will be a shock to the system. Does anyone know why Clarke went to Ilford? For me, Ilford are hot favourites. They have a manager I rate and have strengthened their squad with good players and Clarke.

I'm sure Jim would have brought in the best possible players available; but there has to be a question mark over how much money was made available for players

what impact did the summer activities have on the playing fund ?

The pitch is poor; but then it is poor for all the players.

It is still early days; but we have to win our next two games !

Im a Waltham Abbey fan and I totally disagree that Ilford are hot favorites. On paper maybe but on the field thay are not nearly as good as they were last year. Romford were by far a better side than Ilford.

I heard that Clarke wants to go back to Enfield Town but the manager is just not interested. It is interesting to see how all the Town fans are reacting to picking up only one point from 6. All you have known is success in your short history and you have to take the rough with the smooth.

I think Enfield Town can still win the league but they have to turn it round pretty soon. Its going to be tight this year.

One more point, yes money can get you a decent player but does it make them really want to dig in when the chips are down? At WAFC not one player gets paid, everyone there wants to play for the club.

Money is always an emotive subject. If a playerplays for a team for nothing, then goes to another team with money and gets 100 a week, he's not a better player is he? Once the game starts it is down to skill, fitness, passion etc. Of course if you had 5 grand a week you would win the ESL, but the difference between the highest players and those on nothing is not that great I suspect. Cant believe any manager is getting more than say 350 a week at this level.

I say, steady on old chaps. Only 2 games played so far! OK it was not that impressive but Jim's still tinkering. Early on against Manor we looked good down the right, mainly through Disco. Another goal would have changed it, as it was, fair play to Manor, they weathered it and played some good stuff.

Long way to go yet. We'll see.
