Very Sad News

Recommended Posts

I regret to inform you on here that a good friend of Non-League Football & in particular the SSML Dave Griffiths sadly passed away yesterday. Dave was well known around the league particuarly for his coverage of clubs such as Broxbourne Borough, Holmer Green & Langford. He was also a supporter of Stansted FC & covered many clubs in his hobby as a Non-league reporter. Dave had such a love & enthusiasm for football & will be sadly missed.

My deepest sympathy goes to his family & friends.

R.I.P mate

Oh no. Steve, let us know when the funeral is and where, also whether the family would like flowers or donations.

Deepest sympathies mate and to his family.

Very sad news - he was always very cheerful whenever I met him.

I'm shocked to read this. Always worth a chat with Dave. RIP

Sally and I met Dave several times and liked him immensely. Dave knew a lot of people obviously and was very popular not least of all for his enthusiasm for all things non league but because he he had a habit of asking thoughtful questions and taking the time to listen to the answers.

We last saw Dave at Steve's 40th Birthday bash and had sat at the same table and enjoyed his company yet again. I'd had no idea he was ill and never thought for a moment that it would be the last time we saw him, if I had I'd have spent many more hours with him that night. We met him through Steve and it was obvious that he thought the world of Steve and I think the feeling was mutual.

Now, does that answer your question satisfactorily Cliff? Perhaps you could make an attempt to fill Dave's shoes as a responsible, friendly and sympathetic journalist. Or then again, perhaps not.
