Ash Trees 1 City 3

Bad day at the office. We gifted all three goals to City, who looked distinctively average. We stood like statues waiting for a non-existent whistle for the first goal, Perry missed a sitter which would have levelled things, we gave away a penalty for 2-0 by tugging a forward's arm (though it took a while for him to lose his momentum and go down), got a goal back just before the break when Kofi finshed off some lovely work by Bitz, and we tried hard to equalise without a cutting edge before sub Robbo's awful header back to Macca was anticipated, lobbed into the net and made it game over with five minutes left..

We didn't play badly and, on balance, deserved a draw. There were some flashes of brilliance, some really good link-up play and some good battling to win the ball or get it back. Sadly, it all falls apart in the final third too often at present, and yet another game where the opposition keeper didn't have to make a telling save. We sorely miss a Dan Brown-type player, but those don't grow on trees. Ineffective refereeing today - Russ got a booking for what could best be desribed as a hard shoulder challenge, yet a City player got nothing for retaliating to a tackle and pushing our player away with hands on chest.

You could tell it was one of those games when one of City's subs came on and his number wasn't on the teamsheet!

Let's hope for better on Tuesday.
