Big J R
Great news indeed. It seems at last, with good protection and the banning of certain pesticides, birds of prey are making a great comeback in the UK.
Eastside Urchin
Don't believe it JR The problem is actually just as Bad as it always was. Hen harriers are at an alarming level due to estate owners in the north and west of the UK poisoning birds so their grouse populations remain stable for shooting Eagles are frequently targeted as are many other birds of pray. Eagles should be all over the north of England in the upper peninnes,Cheviots, lake district etc but no doubt poisoning has stopped the spread south. Eastside Urchin
And Bald Eagles are not a uk bird, they are obviously just for collectors etc. Would rather these chicks,if possible be reared in the US and releases there
Big J R
I fully appreciate they aren't native to this country, but I don't have any problem with some being here, though with a bird of this size and hunting capacity, I can see some 'country-folk' objecting. Eastside Urchin
No bird should ever be here unless it is a native bird or has come here of its own accord
Big J R
I best get rid of all the parakeets on my estate, then ! Noisy, but beautiful.
Eastside Urchin
Problem with parakeets is that they should of been eradicated or caught etc years ago, they have been around 40 years now so culling them would be quite hard

The badger cull starts this week, and that's another complete waste of time to appease ignorant farmers. (Ooooh - Arrr !) And before anyone has a dig, I am a country-boy born and bred.
