Beaconsfield

We had our two best chances during a short spell in the second half with their keeper making a fine save after a flowing move and then a shot cleared off the line soon afterwards.

However Beaconsfied were marginally the better team with their No 7 the best player on the park, who gave our new left back a hard time in the first half. Ben set out the team well to defend deep and restricted them to half chances until we conceded yet another soft goal from a free kick wide on their left wing. Their scorer was left with yards of space to shoot home from close range.

In the second half we again defended well and there were few chances at either end until we conceded a penalty on the hour mark. The portly and immobile referee was stranded some way back from the action and so it was left to his assistant to indicate the penalty , a more mobile referee may have produced a red card.

Overall it was not a bad performance, once again the destiny of the three points was decided by a soft goal, a mistimed tackle and two golden chances not converted.

It was giood to welcome three new players to the club but as there have now been 38 players used in the first team, maybe it is time to work with the players that we have?
