michael
congratulations to TB on his august award (and indeed to Nikki Bull for winning the golden globes award ) maybe timing not great just before the banana skin of an FA Cup tie where those of a superstitious nature would suggest that winning such awards are the kiss of death '. I think Margate will be all right today (as long as TB has not read the rule book that says margate are not allowed to progress in cup competitions ) and i remain very optimistic of a draw today at folkestone-which would be fine for me,although TB may not be too pleased with yet another fixture to fit in and hope he does not seek retribution on his new suit
michael
my optimism was obviously well founded-careful what you wish for some say ? Not ideal-but would have settled for that before the game just the same. haven't seen the results yet-but there will be a few ryman league premier teams wishing they had also managed a draw today against lower level opposition just the same. Cookie
A draw shouldn't have been needed Michael if we had a strikeforce able to score goals. I'm dreading the Maidstone game at the moment if we are as inept at scoring then as we were today Folkestone at home should be winnable but Maidstone at this time is another story with the way these players are underachieving.Time for TB earn his bread as a little work,no sorry a lot of work on training days needs to be done. Injuries arent helping I know but others should be capable of putting the ball into a net with the chances we are creating. These forwards are supposed to be the "creme" are they not. Some chances we had today seemed easier to score than miss.We are still playing some decent football but sometimes we overdo it. One pass back or forward too many i.m.o. at times. michael
But isn't ryan moss the leagues top goalscorer ,and the team are the leagues third highest goalscorers ? its not that bad surely ?
Cookie
It was bad yesterday Michael and thats what I am talking about. What the statistics might say makes it all the worse for yesterdays lack of goals. You really had to be there to believe it.
michael
difficult to judge when not there butthe match report implies that it was actually pretty close- folkestone also had a few chances-and they could have nicked it at death. wassmer m-o-m also implies margate were also under a fair bit of pressure-so happy to escape with a draw. should keep us going with two matches a week until december now-TB will be delighted ! Cookie
Folkestone shaded it first half and put us under lots of pressure with continuous balls into the box which caused us problems. We had some good chances too in the first half especially that chance in the 2nd minute which was a goal beckoning only to see a miserable finish. Second half it was all us. Folkestone had TWO efforts of note. One cracking shot which skimmed the upright and that last effort which came perilously close(thought it was in the net from where I was standing at far end of the ground). Overall we should have won by 3 or 4. But that finishing...oooh awful!!
