FF News
Following the completion of the paperwork, Conference club Forest Green Rovers can confirm that Charlie Clough has joined on a contract that will run until the summer of 2016. The 24-year-old moves to The New Lawn from Conference South side Sutton United where he was a key member of their squad. He linked up with the squad this week and makes a return to full-time football having began his career at Bristol Rovers. A central defender by trade, Clough can also fulfil a number of other roles, and actually scored twice as an attacker in his final game for United against Weston-super-Mare earlier this month. He was a team-mate of current Rovers duo David Pipe and Danny Coles when he started his career at Bristol Rovers. His first-team debut for The Pirates came as a teenager in a League One defeat at home to Brighton & Hove Albion. Clough was sent out on loan for several loan spells to help him gain further experience and he tasted life at the likes of Newport County, Weymouth, Bath City and AFC Telford United. On his release from Bristol Rovers, he signed for Dorchester Town, where he had enjoyed another loan spell. After a season long stay at the Avenue Stadium, he was picked up by Paul Doswell at Sutton United. Source: Forest Green Rovers FC Source
