Gus Williams, manager of Conference North club Colwyn Bay, has expressed his great disappointment at news that Jamie Crowther has signed for Welsh Premier League side Connah's Quay.

This comes after Crowther had earlier agreed terms to re-join The Seagulls.

In statement today, Williams said: "It's with great disappointment that we hear and read the news that Jamie Crowther has signed for Gap Connah's Quay Nomads FC in the Welsh Premier League.

"Only recently Jamie announced the news that his partner was pregnant and we wish them both the best for the future.

"Following last week's news released on this website of Jamie's imminent return to the club, based on him agreeing terms with us, it has come as quite a surprise that this news has broken of his signature to another club.

"Not once did he mention during or after our discussions last week, and I last spoke to Jamie on Saturday morning, that he was in a similar process with another club.

"Jamie has shown a keen interest and desire to return to the club all season and trained with us last Thursday.

"Of course we value and understand a player's reasons and need to explore all avenues prior to opting to sign, but it should be done in the right manner and the right decision is met for all parties.

"If we have an awareness of this desire from any player then of course again we are open to renegotiate the proposed and agreed deal.

"However, this has its limitations as we won't work outside the financial budget we have in place and therefore won't enter a bidding war with a player or club on signing on fees, wage demands and contract lengths irrespective of what security that poses the player or club.

"The family club ethos that lends itself to all associated with our club is no different to the player. We welcome all players who want to play here and in return for their genuine sincerity they will enter the squad with an opportunity to play.

"We move on and our focus is now on Barrow."
