Northern Legaue Division Two club South Shields have completed the signings of Ben Riding and Chris Renshaw.

Riding joins The Mariners for a third spell from Northern Legaue Division One side Bishop Auckland, while Renshaw is onto his second stint.

25-year-old Riding has played seventy times for Shields over two spells. His most recent stint at the club was last season, when he made thirty-htree appearances, scoring seven goals, including a hat-trick of headers in a 4-3 win over Chester-le-Street Town.

He also scored a headed winner in the previous game at Whickham and also netted on his second debut for the club, in a 2-1 victory against Whitehaven.

Riding, who is most comfortable in the centre of defence but can also play left-back, also played for The Mariners in the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons.

Verstaile midfielder Renshaw has joined from Northern League Division One outfit Crook Town, and he played seven times for Shields after making his debut in a game at Marske United in December 2012.
