FF News Posted February 10, 2015 Share Posted February 10, 2015 FC Halifax Town legend Tom Baker has announced his retirement from football due to not being able to fully recover from injury. Tom had undergone a prolonged rehabilitation process for his knee problem but after speaking to his surgeon he had an ultimatum of either having another operation with no guarantee of resolving the issue or retiring. After mulling it over for a while, he decided to opt for the latter and retire at the age of 29. The former Town captain led the team to back-to-back promotions as the club recovered from its demotion to climb up the Non-League pyramid. The club went all the way from the Northern Premier League Division One North to the Conference Premier in four years and Tom played a key part in that surge. Following his four years at the club, he returned to Ashton United for 18 months before moving to Chorley in March 2013, where he has ended his career.
