Big Run Of Games For Guisley Claims Bower

WHEN you have not played a home game in almost six weeks, you might as well stage a marquee occasion to end that spell.

The scene is finally set for Guiseley tonight – weather permitting – when they host Vanarama North title favourites AFC Fylde at Nethermoor, where they last played on January 1.

Weather frustration has ensured the fifth-placed Lions have played just three times in 2015, meaning they are playing catch-up in their promotion quest.

But opportunity knocks, according to Bower.

The Lions boss, who could hand a debut to former Leeds United loan striker Liam Dickinson tonight, said: "We've not played at home since New Year's Day, so hopefully the weather will hold.

"There's probably no better game than the Fylde one. They are probably the team who like to play more football than any other team in the league.

"They play some really good stuff and it should be a really good game against two really good footballing sides.

"We feel confident that we can come out on top of it."

Tonight's game is the start of a key quartet of home games, with fellow play-off candidates Hednesford and Boston United following before a derby with Bradford Park Avenue.

Urging his side to cash in, Bower added: "We have got some really difficult games coming up and then after that, we have got a lot of games against sides in the bottom half.

"So these next run of games are really big in terms of taking points off our top-of-the-table rivals. They are really important games for us.
