Dowson Takes Full Responsibilty for Defeat

Hampton & Richmond Borough boss Alan Dowson may be forced to reshuffle his pack again after admitting his side were some way off being good enough to secure Ryman Premier League safety.

The Beavers chief shouldered the blame for Saturday's 1-0 home defeat to fellow strugglers Tonbridge Angels - Hampton's third defeat in succession.

And the manager, who rang the changes in January to inspire a turnaround in form, is prepared to dip in to the trasnfer market again to ensure he has the right men to avoid the drop.

"I take full responsibility for the weekend, we were below par and that is down to me," said Dowson, who would rather he is the one under pressure than his players.

"It's a manager's job to get his team prepared for matches and we weren't really at the races which is a big disappointment considering a win would have put us six points clear of Tonbridge.

"For whatever reason we didn't compete in the first half. We were slow to get going and that is on the manager's head so I have to hold my hands up.

"We are still looking over our shoulder. Perhaps we have got to again go down the route of bringing some new faces in because we are nowhere near clear of relegation."

Hampton head to Leatherhead on Saturday.
